Product and Safety Information

We only use gel wax that is patented by Penreco-Versagel, a trademark of the Penreco Corporation. The grade of wax that we use is the most popular grade, Medium Polymer. This grade allows more fragrance to be safely added. We follow the recommended procedures that Penreco advises and only use non-polar fragrances in our candles.

When you hear about gel candles exploding, it is usually because polar fragrance oils are used and they have a low flash point. Polar fragrances can deteriorate the gel strength and the flash point becomes dangerously low. Polar scents also can cause "scent pockets" in the candles because they do not mix with the gel, this can also cause a lower flash point.

We use only nonflammable embeds in our candles. Items such as cinnamon sticks, potpourri, candy (sugar is flammable), dried fruit, paper, and wood are not safe in any candles. We only use wax, glass figurines, sea shells, ceramic/porcelain figures, and other items that are not flammable.

Our soy wax is 100% soy bean product and is environmentally friendly. Soy bean wax is non toxic and non carcinogenic. Soy candles produce 95% less soot than paraffin candles.

Soy bean wax is water salable and cleans up easily with soap and water. Soy candles burn evenly across the top of the candle utilizing all the wax. Soy candles burn at a cooler temperature than paraffin candles making them last about twice as long.

Differences between soy and gel :
Gel candles burn at a much higher temperature therefore they have a lighter scent but they can be molded into more unique candles. Gel candles glow when they are lit causing a glissening effect.

Soy candles burn at a lower temp and therefore they have a stronger aroma. Soy wax is white making most of the colors pastel.

SAFETY TIPS

Do not leave the candle burning unattended. A child or a pet can bump the candle on accident. Do not burn the gel candle all the way to the bottom. This can cause the container to get hot and damage your furniture. Only burn candles on a fireproof surface. Trim wicks to no more than 1/4". The longer the wick, the more it has the potential to smoke. It helps the candle burn more evenly. Inspect the candle each time before you light it. Make sure that the container is not broken, if you find a crack dispose of the candle.

Avoid burning your candle in a drafty area. Stay away from air vents, heaters, and open windows. This can cause the flame to burn sideways and can create a hot spot in the candle. Always check the area where you burn your candles for any items that may be combustible. Dry greenery, drapes, and other items can catch on fire.

Most accidents with candles occur because of the improper use of candles, not the candles themselves. Burn and enjoy your candles safely...
